Pictured below is St. John’s Lutheran Church located in Dongola, Illinois.  The headstone in the foreground is Abraham Brown III’s burial spot.  Born in Union County, IL. on 5 January 1822 and buried 21 June 1908.  His father was Abraham Braun the “Miller” of old Rowan County, NC.  The second picture is of Dan Patterson of Spencer, NC holding a gourd that was carried from Rowan County to Union County by Abraham Brown II, which contained seeds and other items for preservation.  The gourd is on display at Cobden Museum in Cobden, IL.

Abraham II arrived in Union County in 1814 and purchased land from the US government in the Mill Creek area; the Gerald Brown family still farms the land. Abraham II is the 3rd. great-granduncle of Dan Patterson,
