Third Street Street and South Yadkin Avenue
Spencer, NC
The development of this property has been by DanTana
Enterprises, LTD, Spencer, NC.
We have to date placed in excess of 3000 tri-axle loads of dirt on this 1 acre
of land
in downtown Spencer. The extreme lower end has 27 feet of fill. The
storm water
runoff from most of downtown Spencer northwest side ran diagonal across this
lot.
We knew from the beginning that we would have to divert this water to the
perimeter
of the property in order to build a structure in the middle of the property.
The bright yellow poles in below photo are steam engine flues which were
fabricated in old Spencer Shops over 50 years ago. They have been removed
and are being restored for further use in this project. This property is
within
1 block of the Spencer Library Park, the Park Plaza and the NC Transportation
Museum.

These two photos with large green poles are actually steam engine flues. They were placed on this lot at the intersection of Yadkin Avenue & Third Street many years ago to protect children of the town while wading in the wading pool that was located on one corner of the lot. Original photo is located at bottom of page. A blacksmith at the Spencer Shops would have forged the rounded cap with a Bradley or steam hammer. |
